HOW IT WORKS
How it works

Form a team
3 to 10 people, any age. The team leader registers everyone at once, and it is free. Teams are selected after applications close.

Build for 6 hours
Doors at 9am. Build from 10am, with mentors available throughout the day.

Demo, then dinner
Building ends at 4pm. Five-minute live demos, then dinner, prizes and results at Connections.
Prizes
$3,500 in prizes, handed out at Connections.
Judged on what runs, not on what the slide says. Winners are announced at the Connections dinner that evening, along with the full results.

Why should I go to a Toronto hackathon like this?
Six hours to build something real, with mentors on the floor and sponsor teams from Toronto judging live. Every selected team also gets a shot at a real prize pool and a seat at Connections, the evening dinner where the prizes are presented and the results are released.
Can high school students register too?
Yes. Terminal X26 is open to all ages, and teams can mix high schoolers and university students. If you're under 18, confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to attend.
How much does a Toronto hackathon like this cost?
Applying with a team is free. Each person needs an Event Pass for meals, drinks and entry to the Connections Event. It is priced on the Register page.
Do I need coding experience to join?
A little helps. Teams are selected on what they can realistically ship in 6 hours. You do not need hackathon experience, and self-taught builders are welcome.
How many people can be on a team?
Teams run 3 to 10 people, from anywhere. You do not need to already know your teammates before you apply.
Is every team that registers guaranteed a spot?
Registering reserves your application, not a place. Up to 25 teams will be selected after registration closes. Only 25 teams fit in the room, so apply early.
What do winning teams get?
The winning team takes $2,000 in total prize value, second place $1,000 and third place $500. Prizes are presented at the Connections dinner the same evening, where the hackathon results are also released.
What is Connections at Terminal X26?
The Connections Event is the closing dinner of Terminal X26, included with the hackathon, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the same evening. Included with your Event Pass. First, second and third place announced. Meet startup founders, YC founders and investors. For Event Pass holders.
When are the hackathon results and prizes announced?
At the Connections dinner on the evening of the event. The hackathon results are released there and the $3,500 prize pool is presented to the winning teams in front of the whole room.
